Operations Recommence at Scotland's Busiest Airport After Major ATC System Failure
Flight operations have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport following a major technical issue at the control tower brought the international hub to a standstill.
Every arrival and departure were suspended because of an IT issue that occurred at about 08:30.
Some passengers were left waiting in jets at the stand as the outage continued.
Flights Resume with Ongoing Delays
The airport confirmed at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and thanked passengers for their "cooperation and patience".
That said, ongoing issues are expected to affect schedules. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with numerous other services subject to postponements.
A spokesperson had earlier anticipated that a significant number of movements could be disrupted.
"Travelers are urged to check directly with their airline for the latest information on their specific flights," officials reiterated.
Source of the Issue
Officials linked the widespread suspension to an technical fault with its control tower systems vendor.
Travelers are still being urged to verify the schedule of their journey before traveling to the hub as knock-on effects are managed.
