Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his profound loss.

"Enough time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor uploaded archival material from the film, remarking that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".

"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.

He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."

Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator

In a distinct piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.

"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.

Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to block the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.

A legal directive issued a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the ongoing investigation.

The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
