British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
