Rock Climbing in the National Park
Even complete newcomers will soon be scaling protected regional crags on this short course. Learners will learn securing the rope, belaying and a range of climbing techniques, as well as abseiling down. Non-Representational Art in Andalucía
Moclín, a historic town in southern Spain, approximately 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the stimulating location for this creative getaway. Participants of every skill level – including novices – will discover how to conceive and execute abstract artworks. Part of the schedule will be spent outdoors, working on guided exercises en plein air. These initial charcoal drawings and paintings will then be developed in the workspace, with participants creating multiple abstract landscapes in acrylic paint to be exhibited in the local community. Participants has exclusive access of the hotel, which is built around an central patio and has a rooftop with views over the countryside. The price covers five days of art instruction; full board; and an outing to the local castle and additional local sights.

Ottolenghi-Inspired Culinary in Portugal
This sun-drenched foodie getaway, located at a villa by the river in the central Portuguese region, is inspired by the vegetarian dishes of renowned chefs. Guests will master the art of meze spreads, attend a hands-on falafel session, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses such as spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are visits to the village market and a local vineyard to taste Portuguese wines, plus leisure time for walks by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or swim in the infinity pool. The farmhouse, a renovated rural property, has five bedrooms, plus safari tents in the gardens.

Street Dance in Buckinghamshire
This energetic camp is an uplifting, welcoming three-day adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The format throughout the camp is a high-energy warm-up session, then three hour-and-a-half workshops teaching various street dance styles, then an hour-long freestyle session to demonstrate those solos. Dancers are split into groups based on ability and experience, so it is perfect for those who are completely new to street dance, right up to advanced dancers or instructors. The camp does not provide lodging but there are a number of hostels and hotels within walking distance, and it is under an hour by rail into London.

Sea Shanty Weekend in Cornwall
This coastal town is the excellent location for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will be taught historic sailing songs from a folk singer and vocal coach, and have a go at writing their own. The schedule includes voice exercises, breathing exercises, performance tips and a closing performance. The retreat is based at a country house with views of the bay. Full board are provided, such as a traditional tea on the first day, breakfast options, lunches to go and evening meals. Traditional rum, alas, is not provided. Everyone join in: “What will we do with the drunken sailor …?”

Writing in Greece
Author and lecturer an experienced instructor leads the daily workshops on this authors' getaway. He covers topics including story structure, character development, locations and tension, to submitting work to agents. A co-host, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will participate in special sessions at the start and finish of the week. The retreat is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the base of the Lefka Ori – 10 private accommodations are set around a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to share). The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a host of programs on sustainability: from wildlife gardening to making pallet furniture. This two-day introduction will help participants get to grips with the basics of beekeeping, explore the biology of bees and discover their environmental benefits. It is designed to produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. The weekend is also a chance to de-stress in the organization's sustainably managed forests, which are habitat for polecats, otters, dormice, bats and rare birds. Accommodation the evening prior is £80, and all meals and lodging during the course is 97 pounds.

These recently launched summer sailing weekends are spent on Wayfarers and keelboats on the estuary in Essex.
